Elizabeth Burns is a landscape architect with over 15 years of experience designing landscapes. She has a passion for working with clients and collaborators to bring a vision to reality. She draws inspiration from the site and the surrounding environment, with sustainability being a key tenant of her designs. A simple yet fundamental goal of her work is to create beautiful spaces that enhance people’s experience outdoors.

As a kid she had a love for plants and the natural world, which led her to pursue landscape architecture as a career.

She holds a Bachelors in Horticulture from Purdue University and a Masters in Landscape Architecture from University of California, Berkeley.

Prior to starting Studio Burns, Elizabeth worked at Andrea Cochran Landscape Architecture (ACLA), where she gained experience on a range of projects and scales including residential, affordable housing, hospitality, and institutional. At ACLA, she and her fellow collaborators won a 2020 ASLA Merit Award for their work on the affordable housing project 901 Fairfax in San Francisco’s Hunters View neighborhood. In 2019, the Calistoga Resi-dence, also completed at ACLA, was shortlisted for a Landezine International Landscape Award.

Her work has been published in Landscape Architecture Magazine, the Naturally Beautiful Garden, and Country Life Magazine.
